President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor visited the fair Alpe–Adria: Tourism and Leisure Show at the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre late this afternoon. The event is the biggest fair-type promotion of tourism in Slovenia as well as in the Alpe-Adria region. It hosts 283 exhibitors from 12 countries and the organizers are expecting more than 20,000 visitors.
President visited the stalls and chatted with exhibitors who presented him with their offer and excitedly promoted their destinations. In his press release, President Pahor expressed his vision of fair activities: ‘Fairs do retain their value and their tradition is still popular; however, they have to be original every year, and this is their challenge.’ In President’s opinion, Ljubljana has premises suitable for fairs and therefore the opportunity to develop fair topics which will attract numerous visitors and subsequently buyers.
‘I can see that the apathy, which was present at the beginning of the crisis, also about fairs and their opportunities, is over. Here are people, exhibitors not only from big companies and state institutions but also from associations, non-governmental organizations, local communities and as individuals, who have many innovative ideas, a lot of personal power and engagement, and fill a visitor with pleasant energy,’ President of Republic summed up his impressions of today’s fair.
